Volumes contain general and special orders issued by Adjutant General or at the regimental and company level. Each order is numbered and dated; providing issuing officer's name, rank, and unit; and occasionally, military units to which order was addressed. Orders concern promotions; assignments; troop transfers; guard duty; arrests, court martial and other disciplinary actions; and general camp regulations. April 1861 volume also lists companies tendered under general orders. Order books are held for these units : 17 Infantry Regiment; Company H, 39th Infantry Regiment; 80th Infantry Regiment; 138th Infantry Regiment; 140th Infantry Regiment; Company B, 145th Infantry Regiment.
